Many girls at Queen's learn musical instruments or have
individual singing lessons, and there is a full programme of concerts throughout
the year including a very popular jazz concert. The Music department is housed
in the basement of 47
Harley Street, with the old wine cellars forming very satisfactory instrument
stores! There is a well-equipped keyboard lab with a multi-track recording
facility.
Girls have regular opportunities for ensemble playing, and in the Easter
holidays 2010 the Music department are planning an innovative chamber music
trip to Normandy. Opera thrives in the College with productions involving
Queen's girls being staged by both Bampton Classical Opera and the Little
Opera Company.
Music is a popular choice at GCSE and A-level each year, and Music scholarships are
offered at both 11+ and 16+.
