A message from the Principal

After over twenty years teaching in girls’ schools in the independent sector, it was a great honour in 1999 to be appointed principal of Queen’s College.  Earlier in my career I spent ten years in the mathematics department of the North London Collegiate School, hearing much about the early history of Queen’s College, as one of its first students, Frances Mary Buss, soon became the founder and first headmistress at North London.

Whilst we have a real respect for our history, my responsibility is to serve the needs of the girls of the present and the future in the living community which makes a vibrant school.  Queen’s now embraces girls of all faiths and nationalities, representing every facet of London life.  Whatever a girl’s special talents – whether in arts, sciences, humanities, music, sports or drama – she will develop them here, working with a highly professional and dedicated staff, whose care for the welfare of each girl is exceptional.  Almost every girl proceeds to university, and everyone who leaves Queen’s has gained that confidence which will enable her to take her place among the pioneer women who have illuminated the history of the college for a century and a half.

Small enough to care for each girl as an individual, but large enough to offer as wide a curriculum as you will find in any school, accessible from every corner of London and in a beautiful and historic site, Queen’s is unique: do visit us.
