A taste of the East

On Sat 19 September, a number of Queen's girls who study Japanese went with head of Modern Languages Ms Millward to Spitalfields to attend the Festival of Japanese Culture. This event was put on to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Anglo-Japanese Treaty of Amity and Commerce. Ms Millward explained, 'The girls were very excited as there were huge numbers of Japanese people present and this made their language lessons at Queen's seem alive and relevant.' Zhaniya (IIJC) commented, 'It was very entertaining and gave us a real taste of Japan. The food was amazing! I enjoyed the shows and the atmosphere.'
