Diamond Jubilee celebrations at Queen's
Queen's College, so often ahead of the game, celebrated the Queen's Diamond Jubilee on Tues 8 May. Although this was rather earlier than the national celebrations, we enjoyed a themed break and lunch time. We are immensely proud to have Her Majesty The Queen as our patron and we have welcomed the opportunity to celebrate her sixty years of dedicated service to church and state. Our morning assemblies have recently looked at a variety of aspects of her reign, and the girls have had a chance to reflect upon the extraordinary social and cultural changes which it has witnessed.
Queen's College has long-standing royal connections and has always had a Queen as patron. Queen Victoria, our first patron, visited for the College's 50th anniversary in 1898; Queen Mary visited in 1928; and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in 1948, 1972, 1980 and for the opening of our Prep School in 2002.
