Legal tomes

Congratulations to Dr Stephens, who teaches Politics here at Queen's! He has recently published three weighty tomes about Lord Denning, based on his doctoral research. The trilogy is entitled, 'The Jurisprudence of Lord Denning: a Study in Legal History.' Each of the three books deals with a different aspect of Lord Denning's theory of law. 'Fiat Justitia' is concerned with his place in the common law tradition; 'The Last of England' looks at the role of Englishness in the jurisprudence of Lord Denning; and 'Freedom under the Law' sets it in the context of history of the 1960s and 1970s, examining his writings about the law, his role in the Profumo affair, and treatment of themes such as religion, literature, education, the currency, the Empire, the Union, national security, social change, industrial conflict, and the role of the City.

Alongside his teaching here, Dr Stephens is the member of staff responsible for convening and overseeing the Queen's Parliament. This term he is hoping that the Parliament will draw up job descriptions for the student Form Representatives.
