Silver D of E expeditions
No fewer than 24 Queen's girls in II Juniors and I Seniors have been completing the expedition section of their Duke of Edinburgh's silver award this term. This has involved a practice trip and then a formally assessed expedition. Under the care of Mrs Hammond and Miss Slingsby, the girls travelled to the Chilterns for two long weekends. They trained hard, learning navigation, campcraft, and first aid amongst other things. The assessed expedition saw them camping out for two nights and covering nearly 50km on foot with all their gear in packs on their backs. It was a far cry from life in W1, and the girls returned tired but buoyed up by their experiences.
