At 16+, joining Queen's College, London is a purposeful step towards academic excellence and personal maturity. We offer a stimulating and demanding curriculum that challenges students to think independently and engage deeply with their subjects and prepare confidently for future study. Alongside our academic rigour sits a strong pastoral framework, ensuring every student is supported and encouraged as they navigate this important transition.
Many students choose to join us in the Sixth Form from other schools, and indeed other countries. We will host a Sixth Form Open Evening in September, but if you would prefer to visit before then, please contact our Head of Admissions, Ms Barbara Porter, at admissions@qcl.org.uk, who will happily arrange an individual visit.
Admissions Criteria
Admission to Sixth Form is on the basis of an interview with the Director of the Senior College and a good reference (with predicted GCSE grades) from the candidate's current school.
Occasionally, we may ask a candidate to sit a short test in a particular subject or subjects, and entry is always subject to a minimum performance at GCSE as follows:
- The minimum required grades for each of their preferred A-level subjects.
- In addition, students need (I)GCSE Mathematics and (I)GCSE English Language; these must be retaken if the minimum standard is not met.
If a student wishes to be considered for studying four A-levels, the mock results and GCSE outcomes should, in general, be extremely strong, with six 8 grades or above in the mocks, as well as exceeding the grade requirements for most of the selected subjects in the external summer examinations. Students may be required to drop down to three A-levels if academic performance is not strong at any stage during the Senior College.
